Job description: Heavy Equipment & Truck Mechanic
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Heavy Equipment & Truck Mechanic.
The company is a well-established and reputable company within the Icelandic construction and
infrastructure sector.
The mechanic will work as part of a small team of 2–3 mechanics, responsible for maintenance and
repairs of our machinery and vehicle fleet. Our fleet mainly consists of Caterpillar equipment, as well
as Komatsu and Metso machinery.
We also operate trucks from MAN, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz.
Responsibilities:
• Maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of heavy machinery and trucks
• Troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and basic electrical systems
• Performing scheduled services and preventive maintenance
• Identifying faults and ensuring safe and reliable operation of equipment
• Working closely with other mechanics in a small team
• Keeping service records and reporting major issues
• Ensuring work is performed according to safety standards
• Assisting with fabrication and minor structural repairs when needed
Requirements:
• Proven experience as a heavy equipment mechanic and/or truck mechanic
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical systems
• Ability to diagnose and repair faults independently
• Good teamwork skills and reliability
• Willingness to work in workshop and on-site
• Ability to work in physically demanding conditions
• Basic English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications (a plus):
• Experience with Caterpillar equipment
• Experience with MAN, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz trucks
• Good welding skills (MIG/MAG or stick welding is a strong advantage)
• Relevant mechanical certifications or trade qualifications
• Driving license
